Useful CCTV starts with the areas you need to see. We consider entrances, approaches and external spaces, along with mounting positions, lighting and cable routes. Recording storage and retention are discussed alongside remote viewing. The aim is useful coverage and clear operation, with privacy considered when deciding where cameras should point.
We discuss how the property is occupied, which areas need protection and how you want to receive alerts. Ajax and UniFi are among the technologies we work with, with the choice depending on the functions required. Any integration between systems is assessed specifically; we do not assume that every camera, alarm or automation platform will work together.
Video doorbells, smart locks and access control can make everyday arrivals easier. Door construction, existing hardware, power and connectivity all affect the options. We work with technologies including Bold, Salto and iLOQ, assessing suitability for the particular door and use case before recommending a solution.
BEHIND THE FINISHED SYSTEM
We plan cable routes, network connectivity, account access and handover as part of the project. Discuss any insurer requirements or need for monitored alarm response at the start so these can be assessed before equipment is selected. Maintenance, subscriptions and support expectations should be clear before you commit.
SECURITY NEEDS A CONNECTION YOU HAVE CONSIDERED
Remote camera viewing, notifications and other internet-dependent security features need a route online. A cable can be damaged or deliberately cut. A separate 4G/5G or Starlink connection can help maintain access if the fixed line fails. We consider backup power too, and check the alarm system’s own signalling separately.
